I can tell you that my brother and his family have lived all over the country. At one point they lived in Naperville, then moved to Maryland, and decided to move back to Illinois. They are in Aurora. Aurora is very closte to Naperville. My brother, his wife and there son all love it there....

On CBS This Morning Show, they did a profile of Naperville, IL. They discussed how builders are buying older, smaller homes, demolishing them and building large, designer homes. They're doing this because Naperville is close to Chicago and has a downtown area that's upscale and growing. People want to live in neighborhoods where they can have their large home, yet be able to walk or have a short drive to city conveniences.
I've never been to Naperville, but it looked like a nice place to live. Hope you saw the show this morning.

Yikes my ex husband was born there!!! There are alot of good places and bad places in the Chicago area. We like to go down there to shop. The suburbs are expanding down there big time. I'm not sure what taxes and schools are like. But I hate the Tollways!!

I lived in Naperville for two years and then moved back to California. It is a wonderful place to live! Great for raising children. The taxes are high and the tollways are a pain, but it was worth it to me. If you have any questions, go ahead and email me. You'll love it there!

Most of my Family lives in Naperville. It is a ritsy area with very expensive homes and TONS of congestion. (did I say TONS?) Very small properties with HUGE homes on top of each other. The taxes are high BUT the schools are excellent. The kids are spoiled! MAJOR! Most drive brand new cars of the subaru, bmw persuation. If you need to shop for ANYTHING it is there. Close to Chicago, Joliet where there are some riverboats, theaters etc.... If you want to save your money for retirement and don't want to have to keep up with the "Jones's " then it's not the place for you. If you're well off, and the transfer will put you in a "high society" position where money won't be an object, then move and and join the school board! Keep kids involved in EVERYTHING! There's a lot of "things" for a "bored" kid to do there. I think Plainfield (really close to Nprvl) has schools that are just as good with less crime and nicer properties for 1/2 the price. Just depennds on what you want your address to show people! :twocents: :soapbox:
