Edited! With new FABULOUS information!

We will be meeing at Mac and Maggies near Tanglewood Mall at 7pm. I'll call them when it gets closer to the date to see if we can't get some sort of privacy. I would LOVE if everyone planning on going (even if they aren't sure) would post here and raise their hands and say "me! me!" so I can have some sort of head count.

I expect people from all over the US and Canada to drop what they are doing that weekend and fly, drive or scooter on over to Roanoke, VA on October 2nd! It's gonna be wild, man...

There are hotels in the area and any cabbie would know the direction from the airport. OK< I really don't expect many to fly in but it couldn't hurt to say something! After we have a few, and if anyone wants to extend the partay, there are several places we can go. In other words, girls--pull out your hootchie-mama outfits because we may hit the clubs :dance:. Or really, club. It is Roanoke!

And I have a special request--er--challenge. Someone sent me a PM saying we should get on Brent to show up since he's made it to Chicago and Florida and all, and we in Virginia feel neglected. And I'm sure once he knows that hootchie-mama outfits may make an apperance, I'm sure he will come.

I definitely would be interested Stephanie. :yesyes: I don't need a hotel though cause I would just drive home and back the next day. I think u made a mistake for the dates in Oct. for your poll though. The dates for Oct. that u have listed are for Mondays - Tuesdays. I would choose either the first or 2nd weekend in Oct. probably, but would try to make any weekend work to meet some other sweepers.

besides renting rooms and stuff the cost to get to charlotte is cheap! I am opposite of you, I have to drive from Georgia to Charlotte to go visit my mom (3 hour drive) and I dont even use one tank of gas to get there!

s'ok. We had a Charlotte NC get together in March that I couldn't go to.

C'mon, VA, WVA sweepers! I want at LEAST 5 to get together (I will cancel if I don't get at least 5 yes's)

So far is Laura and I and we could freaking meet at Victory Stadium for fireworks and hot dogs, at this point (which, after all, is not a bad idea! :) )

Don't plan too much on downtown shops in Roanoke on Sunday-- not much is open near Center in the Sq on a Sunday... I have learned that the hard way!

I say we get one more vote (total of 5...) and I'll make some sort of plans. Maybe not hotel until/if we get 10 or so, but def. decide on a restaurant...

C'mon, people. Roanoke is pretty central for WV, TN and VA! Not to mention those (like me) who missed the NC get together in March.

Thought I'd reply to this, since Laura reminded me on it!

OK, here's the skinny:

October 2nd we'll get together, here in Roanoke. I would say lets go to Logan's Steakhouse near the airport, that way there are a couple of hotels near by in case anyone has too much imbibin' or a drive home. I think a weekend is too much, since there may be only 6 of us, but if anyone has any ideas on what to do, please let us know!

We can always go to Blueberry Hill after for drinks and pool, or corned beef 'n co if anyone wants to get down and funky. (I always feel old there, but I'll go if that's the vote).

Just let me know! Rock on!

you guys have to come here just to see our big tacky neon star that sits on top of the mountain and looks over the city! (I'm totally serious). It's a good thing we changed our name 150 years ago to Roanoke from "Big Lick" or else we'd have a giant tacky Rolling Stones lips and tongue shining down from Mill Mountain...

Just thought I would try to tempt a few more people to join us in Roanoke during the first weekend of October. There is a huge craft show at Roanoke Civic Center the whole weekend of this get-together that some of you may want to come and go to this and then meet at the restaurant/bar afterwards.

I hope you guys all have a good time. I would come but we are leaving for Orlando on our PAX win on the 2nd. (from Roanoke Regional Airport). Thought I would put my 2 cents in on the Craftasman Fair at the Roanoke Civic Center, it's a great place to find some very nice Christmas presents- as is the Fall Craft Show at Salem. I live 40 minutes from Roanoke and go quite often to shop, attend concerts, and other events at the civic centers. Roanoke is a great place. I'll be thinking about you-I know you all will have a great time!

I live 30 minutes from the restaurant--but these hotels are right down the freaking street...very close you could walk. Whose bed is :jump: going to sleep in? :laugh:

I thought I should edit this and say that 'twere I single I'd offer to put you all up at my house, because I thought my previous post made me sound like some sort of selfish you-know-what. But I have my husband to think about, who would worry constantly about the toilet that you have to jiggle the handle for and things of that nature. He's a nice guy--just thinks he's Tim Allen sometimes!

I am really stressing over meeting my OLS buds with my new weight. Its the most I have ever weighed. Now I'm not that big but I am not ready for all of OLS to see me..... However, I wouldn't turn down a night out with a few of ya!

At first I thought we wouldn't need a hotel but if no hotel, no drink so... We'll have to see on that one.

Just thought I'd pop in and report that I made a hotel ressie at the Ramada Inn-River's Edge at 1927 Franklin Rd. for $40/night. The Sleep Inn was too pricey for me and this one looked like it's not too far from where we're meeting.

I'll be at Shoe Carnival too! They are giving away $1000 at 11am, and you have to be present to win. Also between 3 and 4 you can enter to get qualified for a car (one qualifier per store) and the qualifier gets $250 store card! Yeah, I'm all about the shoes, baby! :cheer7:

Then we'll go to the Mill Mountain Star (Roanoke Landmark--big tacky neon star that over looks the city)
Then, for those of us not tired, we can go to Blueberry Hill, a kind of dance club for the older set (I am not hauling my cookies into some of the other nightclubs in town, which are country or kids who are just past 21). So wear your spangly outfits and get a nap this afternoon! :laugh:

We started out at Mac and Maggie's with mega-sized cocktails, maragaritas for me, I think that's what they were having too. I had been there an hour earlier than the other 3 ladies, getting a head start. LOL! We ended up across the street at Macado's, think that's the name of the place. LOL! I had to leave them earlier than I wanted to, cause I had worn my other half out by dragging him around Roanoke all day, but I'm sure they partied on after I left. LOL! Have 4 pics for everyone to see. Had a great time meeting 3 ladies from the board! Hope to do it again real soon!

I'm still not feeling well--I didn't meet the girls for brunch because I am just out of it. I am wondering what the hell was in those Midori Sours... they were expensive enough.

Thanks for the pics Laura! It was nice meeting you and Steve (if only for a minute).

PantherPaw took pictures too. We closed the bar at Star's hotel (although the bar closed 2 hours earlier than any other bar in Roanoke)...after a few Vanilla Martini's and about 2 minutes of the Electric Slide (no pictures of that, sorry guys!). They wore me out. :laugh:
