I noticed Joe Cocker released a greatest hits album (the Ultimate Collection), so I went ahead and grabbed myself a copy. After I heard it once, I felt like I had been listening to it for years. I never knew Joe Cocker sang “Cry Me a River” (no Justin Timberlake didn’t cover this song – he just ripped off the title!) and “Unchain My Heart”. Anyone who listens to this album will recognize a LOT of these tracks. The songs go from ’69 to ’99, so it’s got music for everyone!

There’s a bunch of great guests on it too – like The Crusaders, Jimmy Cliff, Billy Preston, and many more. The stand out track has to be his cover of the Beatles song, “With A Little Help from My Friends”. You may recognize the song from the ‘The Wonder Years’. “You are so beautiful” is another song EVERYBODY is gonna recognize; this song brought back memories of a special wedding I attended a couple years ago, when my friend and his bride took the dance floor for the first time as a married couple and danced the night away, it was truly magical!

A buddy of mine hooked me up with these awesome links of Joe Cockers performances from early in his career, check these out!

I was watching a VH1 show recently which featured top 100 hard rockers. Joe was on the list. They were mentioning some of his songs. Many, many good ones. Amongst the song titles was Summer in the city. I thought this was a song by The Lovin' Spoonful. Did Joe Cocker do this song too or is a different song?
