I just saw this and I liked it a lot. We owe a huge debt of gratitude not only to these women who fought so bravely for the right to vote, but also to the men who already had the right to vote, but were courageous enough to understand that no one is free unless everyone is free.
This is also very timely, given the debate over whether gay people should have the freedom to be married. The bible was used to deny women the right to vote as it is used to deny gay people the right to marry. Those who fought for freedom then were called un-American, as they are now.
In 1920, people found the courage to do the right thing. Why can't they find that same courage in 2004?
