So much has been made of Janet Jackson's right breast exposure during the Superbowl halftime. Poor Ms. Jackson's right breast. They're all so shocked! shocked! Like people had never seen a breast before. Don't we get treated to near-nudity when J-Lo appears on an awards show? Weren't there ads for erectile dysfunction in between acts? Sheesh! Janet was forced to make a heartfelt apology, and was banned from the Grammy Awards, but her co-rippee, Jason Timberlake, was allowed to appear on the show. They treat him with near-indifference, while Janet was castigated for not protecting her "virtue." At least we know that her now-familiar right breast is approximately the same color as her face, a certitude we cannot apply to her brother.
And then there's Martha Stewart. Poor Martha seems to have fallen apart over her legal problems. She looks tempest-tossed, like she has just hosted a soiree for 600 preschoolers. I agree she made a shady stock trade, but so what? I'm sure there were hundreds, if not thousands, of similar trades made, worth far more. I am not a fan of Martha in particular, but I have sympathy and feel a double standard was applied to her, especially when *real* crooks like Enron's Ken "Kenny Boy" Lay remain uncharged, relaxing in his multi-million dollar mcmansion, bought with the shareholders' stolen money.
