View Full Version : HSN Sucks!!!

OK, I've been a little bit upset the last couple of days and now this. I won a $500 Gift Certificate from Lucky Magazine for the Home Shopping Network last month and it has turned out to be a nightmare. First, I was on my cell phone a total of 98 minutes trying to order my stuff because there was such confusion about the GC, not to mention it took 3 separate phone calls because the order never went out when it was supposed to. The customer service people weren't helpful in the slightest. So of course by my 3rd call to them and a good chunk of my monthly minutes gone from my cell phone plan, by then some of the stuff I ordered was sold out, so I had to change the order around. Anyway, finally got my order in and got the stuff. Pieces-o-crap!!! I don't know if anyone here has ordered from the Home Shopping Network before, but most everything I got sucked. The only thing I felt were decent were the binoculars I got but even then I sold them for $35 less than what I paid. I could have went to the dollar store and done better for the rest of the stuff though. Sad thing is I got a Prada bag which cost me $229 (reg $400) which was so pathetic that I had to video tape it as I opened it. The zipper doesn't zip straight, there are seams of thread sticking up, and get this, even the authenticity card was wrinkled and folded crooked when I got it! I couldn't believe it. I have seen better bags at Pay Less. I questioned if these Prada and Fendi bags were real and "oh yeah, they are the real thing." So with my piec of sh** handbag, I have a pair of absolute diamond earring and pendant set that just about broke the first time I tried it on. I put the earrings in to see if I like them, took them out and they bent so bad that I'm sure they will snap off if I try to bend them back. Just cheap quality stuff, you know the cheap backs versus the good backs you get with earrings? Well imagine even cheaper. So get this, I called them today to see how to return them. I said that I was sure you wouldn't give me cash back since it was a GC to begin with but I would at least like to return them for credit so I can exchange them for something else. Well, evidently I can't even return anything. My Prada bag is nonreturnable. I said, why, because it's a fake? You guys never told me when I ordered that it was non-refundable and God knows you had 98 minutes to tell me. I think they must have put the decimal places in the wrong spots, I think the bag was supposed to be $2.29 not $229. Anyway, I hate and trust me I HATE complaining about wins. But I'm sitting here thinking about why there are a lot more complaints these days from all of us, and it's because we aren't getting what we set out to win. So I believe I have a right to complain under those circumstances. And that must be why I'm burnt out on sweeping too. Not only am I having a dry spell but when I do win something it's either not being delivered, you have to e-mail them several times to "remind" them that you won something, or it's got the word "sample" written on the crotch, like our wonderful 68 boy short and cami sets I'm looking forward to receiving. So, I think we shouldn't feel guilty complaining about this kind of stuff otherwise imagine what lies further down the road for us....I mean where do we draw the line, this is ridiculous. Sweeping used to never be like this.

So I ended up hanging up on the girl at HSN I was so pissed but now that I think about it, I plan to call back and talk to a supervisor. I'd like to voice my complaint again and also the fact I paid $50 extra by check so I should at least get that back I would think. The pendant/earring set was about that much so that should be an even trade. Plus after I complain, I'm gonna say OK, could you read that back to me. That gets them everytime, because you know they didn't write anything down and weren't going to do a thing about it and they get completely tongue tied because they don't expect to have to read anything back. (Actually looking forward to that!) Also, you have to mail everything back separately even though they go to the same address. They wouldn't let me slip a tiny earring set or watch in with the same box as the Prada bag to save on shipping. But this was before I found out they wouldn't take ANY of it back, even though they sent me all the forms and return stickers I would need, kind of a double standard.

One more thing, do you think we should even say anything to Lucky about their sweeps and the hassles we've all been having? Like the 68 underwear from HongKong and now us 40 people who won their $500 Gift Certificates. I don't know, probably just shut up on that one huh.....maybe all the rest of their sweeps are fine, I just got stuck with the two that sucked.

OK, I'll shut up now.

Well that's a total BUMMER!!!! I'm so sorry. I actually bought their EuroSteamer and love it. Bought it off of TV one Sunday afternoon. It was charged correctly to my credit card (I broke up the payments) and was delivered promptly and all in one piece.

You have every right to be upset and I would follow up with a certified letter just to make sure everything is in writing. Good luck!

Wow Lex, that is a lot to have to put up with...I'm sorry :frown3:

I agree, talk to a supervisor and make sure it is documented. I bought something a long time ago from HSN and it was ok quality. I am not too impressed with the description of stuff you got...hard to believe that purse got out of inspection/QC.

I hope things work out and you can return the stuff. Try to have a good evening. :gvibes:

They might say the bag is non-returnable, but I believe they have to take back defective merchandise and that's what it sounds like.

I've ordered twice from HSN. My results were 50/50. I wasn't impressed with customer service either. I don't shop there anymore.

Call them and get resolution.

Good luck!

That's absurd! When you talk to them again, be sweet, but do not settle. If they insist that DEFECTIVE merchandise is non refundable, then I would suggest getting a lawyer and asking for the number of their legal department. That is not the way any company should be allowed to do business.

You need to find the right person to speak to! I have ordered a few times over the years and had no problems with HSN, and they are supposedly a good company.

I would write a letter to someobody important there, too. Yes, call back and ask to talk to a supervisor. Find out from the supervisor who is his or her supervisor because you want to contact him or her.

Every item has a warranty of mechantability, and if it's defective they have to take it back even though they say its non returnable. HSN does have guarantees on it's stuf.

I feel for you. I would have steam coming out of my ears myself. I could tell you a few horror stories about probs I've had with places.......
