We've got the skat girl with the messy hair and the bra strap showing, then we have the Elton John guy "Don't Let the Sun Go Down On Me", the girl that was singing Cher deeper than Cher sings "Was she worth it". Then the all time favorite....She bangs, she bangs dude!
Looks like we will get to see him one more time on Monday according to the promo's.
Lordy, Lordy they were showing a lot of my guy the football guy. Hopefully he will make through the next round.
This has been the best yet!

Marsha are you talking about the guy that broke out in opera when he walked out with his "going to hollywood" slip?
If so did you see next weeks previews where he said something like he wasn't very good????
He is who I am voting for so far!

Yep, that's who I'm talking about! In another thread I asked somebody to please tell me what is his name. Wouldn't you know I was what his name is, but I can't think of it right now :worry: ! I wonder if he was talking more about the group he was put with, than just himself. DH thinks he is going to make it. I hope so, I'm going to vote for him via the phone, and that's saying a lot! I don't last beyond the initial auditions usually.
He's talented, and he is sooo darn cute. Don't know what it is about football players :halo: !

 I missed most of it and only because I had watched the apprentice a few times and grew to hate this one guy. I saw on promos that he was being kicked out and I wanted to see it so I could cheer when he did get fired. During commercials I'd flip over to Idol. Love the auditions! I think they are the best part of the show. And the idiots that think they can sing and argue about it crack me up. I mean there are some cats and dogs that can sing better then some of these people. I think this is the first year that I have agreed with Simon on anything except for the one woman that was in the service (think it was first night). I felt she was good. JMO

Honestly though I thought his audition was Good but what really got my attention was when he belted that opera out when he walked out. Now I am not a person that enjoys opera, or at least I have never before, but dang that guy was "good"....with the voice and on the eyes :smile9:
Lets hope we get to see more of him :halo:

Last nights show was great! But is it just my imagination or is Paula turning really mean?! She (and Randy) passed on that Hawaiian girl, Crystal, and she was good, better than some then said okay to...!?! Simon liked her too! Go figure! I mean that big Hawaiian guy could barely catch his breath and get a note out and I couldn't tell if he could sing or not! Who knows, maybe they have more girls than guys or something. What also just amazes me is how many people think they can sing and can't and then argue with the judges about it! Unbelievable! I say get a tape recorder, sing into it and then LISTEN to yourself! Like...Duh!!! I don't blame Simon for getting harsh at times with them...it's like get a clue! I'm really looking forward to next week when they start narrowing down the choices...should be interesting!

She bangs was funny, but my all time fav has to be Scat girl. What the heck was she doing? And that screech at the end? My cat ran and hide under the bed for 2 hours after that! They did a best of the worst clip at the end of last nights show, I am glad, I missed a lot of those! Wish they would do a whole season of just the ones that dont get to go to Hollywood! Now that would be entertainment!

definitely the SHE BANGS guy was hilarious. they should give him an award for making us laugh so much. also, the elton john guy, the one with the glasses, and the girl that sounded like a cat at the end were also funny. :gvibes:
the auditions are truly the best part of the show. hehe

Man was tonights group bad. I only thought that one of the 8 sounded good at all and that was the redhead Lisa something. Sad too because I was really wanting to see Matt (the football guy) do good.
You never know who will make it though. America seems to vote more for personality than talent in the first round. (example: Clay Aiken was eliminated by America although he was the most talented of anyone on the show but later came back in the judges fave round)
Any other Idol fans want to weigh in on this weeks show?

I really liked the girl from Hawaii. I hope she makes it!

I really like the girl from Hawaii. The red head, Lisa was ok but growls too much in her vocals for my taste. I really like Bri, but she shouldn't have picked a Norah Jones song because it just wasn't her thing.
I used to like Matt until I saw a glimpse of his temper tonight. He said he "wanted to make Simon's head bleed." I thought that was a little over the top considering his performance really lacked any luster.
Marissa Joy has some spark. But that's about it. The rest were really pathetic.
I think America will vote for the girl from Hawaii (what's her name?) and Marissa Joy.

It was hard to pick two, but I would pick Bria and Lisa. The girl from Hawaii was good, but she's too immature, in my opinion.
We'll see tonight!

OH wow last nights episode SUCKED. I can't believe they brought those brothers through when they couldn't even remember the words to their songs in previous auditions!! ???????
I hope next weeks group is SO much better......that was horrible to have to sit through that.

February 18th, 2004, 12:46pm
Man, they just kept getting worse as the night went on!! :worry: They really need to liven things up with an up-beat song.....enough with the ballads already!! They need to get the crowd and the TV audience behind them. I didn't think the last girl was too bad. IMO, the best 3 were the redhead, the last girl, and the girl from Hawaii ( Mare, her name is Camille :gvibes: ) Sure hope the next 2 weeks show much needed improvement!!

I agree last nights show was awful. The only 2 who sang well were Lisa and Camille and I liked Marissa Joy a little but I think Lisa and Camile should win.

Glad to see some Bri fans here. I agree Mare, bad song choice for her. She was one I was rooting for the top 12 but I'm not sure that her performance last night will do it. As for Camille, someone said that she is immature but I think she is just over whelmed. It would be nice to see her grow in the competition and become a "contender" but when they get to the top 12, they all have experience and know more or less what they are doing.
How did those Roman brothers make it that far?? Sorry but they didn't deserve to be there. They don't describe how they choose the groups of 8 but the last group had so many talented people that 2 from this group might not have made it at all if the decks were reshuffled. I think that the wild card show will be the most interesting.

My favorite was eliminated a couple of rounds back... the blonde girl who in the initial auditions sang for about two seconds and Simon said, "You're through to the next round." Then she sang a cute song about her boyfriend being gay (I think) when the contestants had to write their own songs. I can't see how in the world she didn't make it to this round and those brothers did!
I'd like to see Lisa go through to the next round, and I guess I slightly prefer Marisa to Camille, but I won't be disappointed if either of them doesn't make it.
Maybe they should just go ahead and name Fantasia the American Idol now and be done with it.

Yes, it was terrible. I forgot to vote. We watch the show at 6 on NYC, but becasue we are in Mountain time zone, phones don't open up till 8 pm our time. I would have picked Matthew & one of the girls maybe; don't know for sure which one. :gvibes:

February 18th, 2004, 8:31pm
Well, I'm probably the only one that voted for Matthew :worry: (and many times at that) . I thought he did great, and to be quite honest I think that if he had been one of the last ones the judges would have given him a positive reaction. I wonder if what he said about seeing Simon bleed was a set up for the Simpson clip (in the clip the animated Simon's nose was bleeding), I don't think last night's episode was live and if was inappropriate I would have thought that they would have edited it out; just mho.
I agree the Roman brothers shouldn't have advanced as far as they did when there were a few more that were eliminated that should have been in this round.
So if Matthew doesn't make it I would like to see Lisa and Marisa on this round.
Chinchilla I agree about the one singer and her song (gay boyfriend), I thought she was great and her song was very original, especially when just about everyone else was forgetting their lines and such. It seems that with the last round that whoever the judges liked was who got in. It's apparent to me that they want Fantasia to go all the way and I think she is just so-so.

I thought Matthew's performance tonight after he was voted through was about ten times better than his performance last night! Not so much pressure on, I guess. I like him.

February 19th, 2004, 9:19am
Let's see how well Matthew plays with others in the "Real World" type housing situation they set up for the top twelve. There's something about him I like, but you can see that temper smoking underneath the bubbly big guy. And yes, he sang a kazillion times better once the pressure was off. Camille was so choked up, she didn't really start singing until the last couple lines of her song.
Oh, and did you see the faces Marissa was making when they called out Matthew's name? I don't know why, but it struck me funny. Lisa didn't look thrilled either, but sorry Lisa fans, she just didn't do anything for me.
I hope Bri gets called back for the Wildcard.

OK, I have a question for all of you Idol fans. Do you think all of the airtime these kids get during the first few episodes helps their chances of making it farther than those who weren't shown at all? There's a young lady from Wisconsin who made it into the final 32, but they never once showed her sing. But there were a lot of people who were shown on many of the audition episodes. I'm getting the feeling that the people who were shown more, have a better chance, because they already have a fan base. Since the fans are now the ones voting for them to move on, those singers nobody knows are at a disadvantage. IMO, once you get to the final 32, they should show you sing at least once, so the audience gets a feel for your voice. Anyone else know what I'm saying?? .......any comments on this? Thanks!! PK :gvibes:

February 19th, 2004, 12:39pm
I totally agree! The media has everything to do with it and if they don't get proper exposure all along, it hurts their chances. Look at Matt.....I bet a lot of people formed their opinions of him when he sang the Opera song while he was leaving his first audition! I know many on here were calling him Opera man. Just the endorsement that Simon gave to Camile helped her win last night.
Next week should be good. I'm interested to see Amy Adams (my early favorite), Leah LaBelle (she changed her last name!!) and Jon-Peter Lewis. He has that "geeky-cool" thing going. I love his laid back attitude and confidence.
The wild card show should be the best since they can call back anyone from any stage. I thought Crystal from Hawaii should have advanced so I would love to see her come back. There was also Micheal Keowen (SP) who they cut at the last round in Pasadena. They could bring him back and give him another chance, Simon liked him until then. Who knows!!

OMGoodness, that last girl can flat get with it! (Ms London I think). She topped off an evening of great singers. It definately should be her & the pink haired girl. Runner up decision would be hard this night.
As far as last week, I agree that guy shouldn't have got it;- the red-headed girl should've. (I apologize for not knowing names) :frown3: And in the first week, IMO a huge injustice was done when they didn't choose that frizzy-haired girl. She was a beautiful singer and she so deserved to be a finalist. She seemed like a genuinely nice girl too. :frown3:
