Hi,
I need help finding my dad. He would be in his seventies today. All I know about him is his first name, race and where he used to hang out at back in the 70s and 80s. I have approached several oldtimers from that area or their relatives but most don't have any ties anymore or won't help. Does anyone have any advice? I want to know him before it is too late.

Thanks! Are you an editor? I am too! LOL.
Has anyone been in a similar situation and can pass on valuable suggestions?

I've used 1800 US Search with wonderful results. It's a lot cheaper then it used to be. You can do an instant search with an age range but if you have a date of birth you should be able to get a direct hit. We found an old friend of DH's that he joined the service with from over 30 years ago by using US Search and found him after searching on our own for well over a year.
If I remember it cost about 20.00 for the instant search. They have several options. Good luck in your search!

I found my Dad 14 yrs ago, called information where I knew relatives used to live, (just used the last name) & started calling what they gave me. About 5 yrs. ago I found my bestfriends Dad by just using www.anywho.com (free) Although he had lived in CA last she knew, I tried the state he was originally from & there he was. Both of these were not real common lastnames so that made it easier. If I can help at all PM me.
And most of all good luck!!
