You are doing great~ Take it minute by minute... just say to yourself.. "For this moment, I am okay" and go to bed! Make sure all of your ashtrays are gone, and keep taking deep breaths... Take it from someone who quit three times!
Congratulations on getting your health back!

Good for you!!!
I quit 10 years ago after smoking for 16 years and it was hard.
What helped me the most was chewing nicorette Gum.
Dr. Phil say's "you have to replace your habits with new ones".
Anway after I got hooked on the gum I started chewing bubble gum and drinking coffee.
I heard carrot sticks or sunflower seed's help some people.
The good news is now you won't have to be hooked up to a ventilater someday.
You can do it! :cheer4:

wow, hang in there.... Saying this as I chew my nicotene gum... I quit as of November 1, 2003. After 30 years of smoking, believe me it is tough but I really do believe so worth it.. I have tried and failed many times before and think I'm gonna make it this time, sure hope you do too......... :hugs:

My fiance just quit about 2 months ago and now looks at smokers in disgust, she even tried a cigarette about 2 weeks ago and spit it out after trying to inhale. You can do it, look to your friends and family for support, and just think you will be on this planet just a little bit longer and will not have to be tied up to some oxygen machine.

I quit cold turkey about 1.5 years ago and I found the best thing is to start a large project ( such as cleaning). It takes your mind off wanting to smoke. Keep real busy for a few weeks, then it is easier. Good luck!!

You can do it! I've quit 3 or more times, keep going back and I regret it every time! If you're really serious, you will succeed! I think you do need to keep yourself busy and trying to keep your mind off of "it". Try organizing a closet, or rearranging your cupboards! :gvibes: Good luck to you!

WTG! You'r doing the best thing! I quit 13 years ago! And i'll never go back.
Breathe! Exercise! Chew Gum! Clean the House! Call a friend! Sweep! keep yourself busy.
Remember the hardest part is the first week! After that, they say it's a mental thing. You can do it!
it's the best thing for yourself and your family. If you put the money your saving away. In a few months you'll be able to fund a nice vacation!

I was going to suggest that. You could aso try Altoids and mouthwash when the urge strikes. Anything that stimulates your mouth, be it sour or spicy or whatever.

I kicked the habit about one year ago. I tried a few times before and tried to replace one bad habit with another (like Dr. Phil said) It didn’t work. The best thing I did was when I got a craving I did deep breathing and just the stretch of my lungs made them feel better. It was hard and still is. I think the first two weeks were the hardest. My roommate drank water when she had cravings and that filled her up. I picked up a cig about one month ago and it tasted so fowl that I spit it out and KNOW now that I wont have to worry about that nasty habit again. Keep it up though. It is possible and you will feel better soon enough.

Hooray for you! You have made a very, very good decision. It will be tough sometimes, but you are SO doing the best thing you could do for yourself. Do whatever it takes, you will be so much better off. Stay strong - I'm sending you all the strength I can muster over the miles. Best of luck. :jump: :cheer7: :toot:

You can do it. Just remember you are better than those damn smokes. I smoked for more than 30 years and its been over 8 months since I quit for the final time. Chew gum, read alot to keep your mind busy, snack on crunchy vegies and be proud of yourself!
