In a few months, we are travelling to NYC (thanks to Redbook). Can anyone recommend shows for my seven year old son? We are willing to go to musicals, but so far his favorite plays involve dancing and silliness.

The only one I know of is the Lion King, if it is still playing.
have you tried Google-ing to see what is currently running?
Then look for a description to see if they are child-appropriate. That's what I would do.

I'd suggest Beauty and the Beast. The Be Our Guest number sounds like exactly what you are looking for.
Some may suggest Wicked (prequel to Wizard of Oz) , but I think it might be too dark and a little over his head.
