Is anyone else bothered by magazine solicitations that show up in your mail resembling invoices? A couple of years ago, we had a situation in which someone ordered scores of magazines in our name, and it was he*l for me to get it all straightened out. So now, every time I get one of these in the mailbox, I have to open it up and scan it thoroughly to make sure it's just a solicitation, and not an actual invoice. Got another one today. No letter accompanying it, saying, "if you order, you get 12 issues, plus this extra gift," blah, blah, blah.
I know why companies do it - they think you'll either "forget" that you subscribed, or figure that your spouse must have subscribed, and go ahead and pay for it; but it really seems underhanded to me and not very ethical. These companies should bear in mind that this can cause a lot of unnecessary worry for people who have been victims of fraud in the past. Plus, at least for me, it definitely does not create a favorable impression of the company. Just had to unload on this topic. :mad2:
