I've read some posts about how well some of you have or are doing on the atkins diet. Can any of you give me a basic run down of the foods your not suppose to eat? And what about salt or salty foods.
I'd appreciate all your input. Thanks in advance!

The best thing to do is to go back and read the forums about the diet. Many have done well on this diet and many think it is a bad idea. If you read the other posts you will see that. Just remember to count the carbs. Low fat does not mean low carb. The first two weeks are the hardest. After that you can start introducing other foods back into your diet that you really need. NO real sugar. Splenda is the best. Meat, cheese, and salad with origional ranch dressing are all good. No bread, potatoes, pasta, or fruits for a while.......they come back in slightly much later. You really need to get the book and read it to know exactly what you need and do not need to eat and when to introduce back into your diet certain things. Be careful and goodluck. My brother in law lost 92lbs in a year and is keeping it off and is healthier than ever. His doctor is amazed.

Boy after going back and reading the old threads I'm not so sure I'm interested in the Atkins diet now! Thanks for your posts.
I do have a diet I've had a long time and always lose at least 8 pounds in 3 days when I'm on it. It's got lots of tuna, fruit, veggies and you even get some ice cream. You eat what's on the diet for 3 days and then your off of it for 4 days. It's not bad other then eating a lot of tuna which I am not fond of but it does work.
If anyone is interested I'd be happy to post it.
Thanks again for your posts.

It was such a long time ago I read Atkins, I can't specifically say what you can and can't eat. BUT I know for those, who like chips or something like that, on a LOW CARB diet, CAN eat pork rinds... or spicy pork rinds... and most types of beef jerky. These are just two options for easy, fast snacks, when you want something without making a meal. Hope that helps someone! My mom told me and it's really worked for her... she's a size 4 now... ugh!

Ohhhhhhhh I remember that diet!! Would you mind either posting that or PM'ing me that? I had it around for awhile but its gone now.
As far as Atkins, my dad and step mom are 18 months Atkins and together have lost over 130 pounds and are doing great healthwise. Their doctors were amazed as they had first placed them on low fat diets, but that wasn't doing anything for them so they started Atkins to see how that went. Needless to say it has done them well :gvibes: Whatever you do, best of luck :cheer7:

Here's the diet menu
Day 1
Breakfast
Black coffee or tea
1/2 grapefruit or juice
1 slice of toast with 1 tablespoon peanut butter spread on top
Lunch
1/2 cup tuna
1 slice of toast or cheese
black coffee or tea
Dinner
2 slices any meat (3oz.)
1 cup string beans
1 cup beets or carrots
1 small apple
1 cup vanilla ice cream
Day 2
Breakfast
black coffee or tea
1 hard boiled egg
1 slice toast
1/2 banana
Lunch
1 cup cottage cheese or 1/2 cup tuna
5 saltine crackers
Dinner
2 beef hot dogs
1 cup broccoli or cabbage
1/2 cup carrots or turnips
1/2 banana
1/2 cup vanilla ice cream
Day 3
Breakfast
black coffee or tea
1 hard boiled egg
1 slice of toast
Lunch
1 slice cheddar cheese
5 saltine crackers
1 small apple
black coffee or tea
Dinner
1 cup tuna
1 cup beets or carrots
1 cup cauliflower or greens
1 cup cantaloupe
1/2 cup vanilla ice cream
Do not vary or substitute any of the foods. Salt and pepper may be used but no other seasonings. After 3 days you can eat your normal foods but do not overeat. You can lose up to 10 pounds in 3 days. After 4 days of normal eating start back on the 3 day diet.
I don't drink coffee or tea and I did drink my diet pepsi and did just fine.
