Hi

ok this is a legitimate question. I have hair to the middle of my back and I want to help someone out. I've heard of places that take donations to make wigs for people who lost their hair due to cancer or some other illness. I want to know if anyone out there has heard of/or had experience with this. thanks
:)

Here is a thread on Locks of Love

I highly recommend donation of hair there!

Quick Story: November 2002 Jennifer's hair had gotten very long and she wanted to donate it to Locks of Love. Fall 2003 Jennifer is diagnosed with breast cancer. October 2003 she has lost most of her hair and has her husband shave her bald. She now relies on wigs and has a positive attitude and enjoys deciding on her hair color depending on what she is wearing :gvibes:

I did it. I had exactly the minimum requirement, so i was butched after that. I did it the first day of our vacation. The Locks of Love lists participating places and there was one where I was going on vacation. It's fun. Definitely recommend it!!!!

I am one of those lucky(unlucky) people that has hair that grows quickly. It's also thick and very healthy. I have donated my hair twice now. I had heard about locks for love, but here where I live, there are salons that donate it directly to the Cross Cancer Institute. The last time I had it done was last summer (2002). I was able to sit on my hair and had all but 3 inches cut off. They should have been able to make a few wigs out of what I donated. Right now my hair is almost to the middle of my back. I will continue to donate my hair, it's the least I can do. And it's only hair. :)

I did it last year @ Fantastic Sam's. Sometimes some of the fashion mags give info on this because the "Locks of Love" do drives. :)

I just did it in November after having long hair for 14 years..it does make ya feel good to help our Cancer patients...the whole time my stepson had bone cancer and had to go for chemo, my heart would be ripped out. He along with other patients lost their hair but the really hard part was seeing toddlers with cancer and no hair..

Congrats on being super cool.... :cool2:

Hi Elaine

sorry to hear about your stepson. Is he doing better? I haven't gone yet but plan on going this month. Those poor babies with no hair :frown3: take care

My friend's daughter (6 yrs old) had the most beautiful hair, down to her waist. When she wanted her hair cut short "like her friend's", her hair was donated to Locks of Love. Looking at her with her "new look" inspired others to compliment her for the wonderful thing she had done. She was so proud of herself she is now letting her hair grow, so she can donate again!
